Sevilla eliminated Manchester United from the Europa League with a decisive 3-0 victory on Thursday at the Ramon Sanchez-Pizjuan, giving them a 5-2 overall victory.

The Premier League heavyweights, who once again were masters of their own demise in an error-riddled performance, were stunned by Sevilla, who had been 2-0 down before a late fightback to tie last week's first leg.

After eight minutes, Youssef En-Nesyri took advantage of an error by Harry Maguire to take the lead in the match. Two minutes into the second half, Loic Bade headed in a corner.

With nine minutes left, En-Nesyri scored a clear-cut goal to put the outcome beyond doubt after David de Gea horribly mishandled a long ball as he rushed out of his box.

The victory extends Sevilla's illustrious history in the Europa League despite a subpar domestic campaign that saw them fire their manager twice.

Having won six championships, including four in the last nine seasons. In the semifinals, they will now play Juventus.

Meanwhile, Man United's ambitions of winning a treble of trophies this year have been dashed. With Brighton on the schedule for Sunday's FA Cup semifinal at Wembley, Erik ten Hag's team will now need to quickly recover.

When Man United was in control and looking for a third goal to end the quarterfinal match at Old Trafford, such a scenario seemed difficult to fathom.

But in addition to giving up two late own goals in the first leg, United also suffered injuries to first-choice centre backs Raphael Varane and Lisandro Martinez, as well as a suspension for midfielder Bruno Fernandes.

These glaring deficiencies were apparent right away in Seville as United put up a display that was wildly inconsistent with their season of revival under Ten Hag.
