Adam Duvall, a slugger for the Boston Red Sox, was placed on the 10-day injured list by the team on Monday due to a fractured left wrist.
Before Monday night's 1-0 loss to Tampa Bay, Boston manager Alex Cora made the injury announcement, stating that the centre fielder had a distal left wrist fracture.
In Sunday's game against Detroit, Duvall was wounded while attempting a diving catch in the outfield.
He was striking.455 in eight games through Sunday with four home runs, tied for best in the American League, and 14 RBIs.
Additional tests were performed on Duvall on Monday in Boston. Duvall will be absent for a while, notwithstanding Cora's lack of a return date.
After the Rays' defeat, Cora stated that Duvall wouldn't require surgery and that his wrist will be cast instead.
In order to treat a damaged tendon sheath on the same wrist, Duvall underwent surgery last summer.
Bobby Dalbec was called up by the Red Sox from Triple-A Worcester. He was striking.7 minor league games for 261 with one home run and five RBIs.
Bobby Dalbec is capable of playing at first, shortstop, and third. Additionally, Yu Chang will play shortstop. Rob Refsnyder, Enrique Hernandez, and Raimel Tapia will play centre field.
Right-hander Garrett Whitlock, who recently underwent hip surgery, might make his season debut against the Rays on Tuesday night, according to Cora.
