Udonis Haslem, a 20-year veteran of the Miami Heat, made the most of his final regular-season game by scoring 24 points in 25 minutes to defeat the Orlando Magic on Sunday by a score of 123-110.
Haslem, who will retire after this season, scored the most points since 2009.
Before Sunday's game, Heat coach Erik Spoelstra emphasised how much he will miss having the 42-year-old in the locker room next season.
Prior to Sunday's game, the Heat showed a tribute video for Haslem that featured comments from Spoelstra and Heat President Pat Riley.
Haslem stood in the middle of the court with his family as his wife, Faith, spoke to him in a moving way. Haslem also spoke briefly to the audience and thanked Heat supporters for their unwavering support throughout the years.
You guys always had my back and showed affection, whether I was the starter, the first player off the bench, or didn't play at all, Haslem remarked.
As his colleagues savoured the occasion in front of them, Bam Adebayo gave Haslem a personalised rocking chair.
With 9:05 remaining in the first quarter on Sunday, Haslem entered the game and received another enthusiastic reception from the crowd.
Before the game, Spoelstra admitted that he has begun to consider what it will be like for the group without Haslem around as frequently in 2019.
Haslem was a crucial cog in Miami's rotation for all three of the team's championship seasons after being acquired as an undrafted free agent from the University of Florida in 2003. Even though he hasn't played much lately, his leadership style is admired throughout the entire organisation.
