Messi won’t be loan out
Inter Miami Messi has confirmed previous speculations that he will not be loaned to an international team this winter, as he expressed his want to spend the holidays at home with his family.
Messi’s calendar year has been eventful, beginning with his tenure at Paris Saint-Germain in August 2022, where he contributed to the team’s victory in the Ligue 1 championship. After a two-month break, he then made his debut in the United States for the MLS in August.
Messi has scored one goal and provided two assists in five regular-season appearances in the Major League Soccer (MLS) since joining Miami. He has started in three of these matches. Messi has scored 11 goals and provided eight assists in 13 games for the club, including all competitions.
There were reports suggesting that Messi Inter Miami would join the Saudi Pro League during the winter or potentially go back to his previous team, FC Barcelona. Currently, Messi is only focused on Inter Miami’s upcoming season finale versus Charlotte FC.
“I will undergo training, participate in our upcoming match, and make every effort to arrive at the national team in optimal condition for November,” Messi stated in Spanish while on the pitch following Argentina’s 2-0 victory over Peru on Tuesday.
Argentina, the reigning World Cup champion, is scheduled to play two World Cup qualifiers against Uruguay and Brazil in November. If Inter Miami had qualified for the playoffs, Messi would have potentially encountered a persistently demanding schedule if the club had managed to get to the MLS Cup final.
“It is regrettable,” Messi expressed, referring to Miami’s failure to qualify for the playoffs despite his utmost exertion. “We were in close proximity.” I was absent during the recent matches. We experienced multiple injuries. We experienced significant challenges throughout the month of July. We engaged in matches at a frequency of once every three days, and we embarked on journeys. However, we were victorious in a competition, which holds significant importance for both the club and the upcoming year’s endeavors.
Messi Inter Miami will not be available for Inter Miami’s final home game, as he has expressed his desire to participate in the match on Saturday in Charlotte.
Lionel Messi has expressed his intention to participate in Inter Miami’s season finale on Saturday, although the club has not officially confirmed this arrangement.
Messi, who netted a brace for Argentina in their 2-0 triumph over Peru in the World Cup qualifiers on Tuesday, was absent from the starting lineup in Inter Miami’s last home match.
Messi, clad in a relaxed white T-shirt, was present in the Inter Miami bench area alongside his teammates for Wednesday’s encounter, having arrived back from Peru earlier in the day.
The absence of play on Wednesday was anticipated. Messi expressed his desire to play for Inter Miami again before the conclusion of his first MLS season during an interview in Peru. This indicates his intention to participate in the match in Charlotte on Saturday, despite the fact that it will be played on artificial turf.
“I will participate in the remaining game,” Messi Inter Miami stated.
Inter Miami was ousted from MLS postseason contention earlier this month. Coach Gerardo “Tata” Martino stated earlier this week that there is a possibility of Messi playing on Saturday. The squad will assess his physical condition upon his return to Miami after the qualifying games with Argentina.
The mere prospect of Messi’s participation seemed to significantly enhance ticket sales. According to The Charlotte Observer, Charlotte has managed to sell over 60,000 tickets for Saturday’s match, which is quite impressive considering the stadium’s capacity of 74,000 seats.
Inter Miami’s final home game coincided with the MLS Players Association’s disclosure that Messi’s yearly remuneration from his MLS agreement with the club amounts to little more than $20.4 million. This amount exceeds the total salary of all MLS teams except for three, and it is twice the combined earnings of all players on Orlando City.
According to the players association’s 2023 salary update, the star, who is 36 years old, receives a basic wage of $12 million and a total guaranteed remuneration of $20,446,667. Inter Miami has announced that Messi’s contract, which spans 2 1/2 years and extends until the 2025 season, is valued at approximately $150 million. The MLS statistics do not include any supplementary contracts with the team or its affiliates, nor do they account for any performance-based incentives.
Messi’s dedication to Argentina for World Cup qualification would have inevitably prevented him from participating in Wednesday’s match. This match was postponed due to the extended participation of both teams in the Leagues Cup tournament, necessitating a change in the fixture. Given that Saturday’s match had no impact on the rankings, it was expected that Inter Miami would avoid taking any excessive chances with Messi, a seven-time Ballon d’Or recipient and the world’s foremost talent. It is highly probable that Messi will secure his eighth victory of that accolade when the announcement for this year’s laureate takes place in Paris on October 30th.
Messi is anticipated to don Inter Miami’s jersey in early November, with the team’s participation in two exhibition matches in China. This will mark Inter Miami’s inaugural international trip.
Inter Miami Messi Goals He has Scored
Messi Inter Miami has scored a total of 11 goals in 13 appearances while playing for Inter Miami this season. When he plays, the club has achieved a record of 8 wins, 1 loss, and 4 draws. Out of those matches, 7 took place during the squad’s successful campaign to win their inaugural trophy, the Leagues Cup championship. In addition, he has participated in five Major League Soccer matches and one U.S. Open Cup semifinal.
However, a leg injury disrupted his season and effectively extinguished Inter Miami’s prospects of qualifying for the postseason. Miami’s record stood at 1-3-2 in six matches in the absence of Messi, following his arrival at the team. On October 7th, he served as a substitute player, however, Inter Miami suffered a 1-0 defeat that resulted in their elimination from the playoffs.
